1. Lead Time

Lead times vary depending on the piece, complexity, and quantity ordered. Standard catalogue items typically take 2–4 weeks from confirmed order, while custom or larger pieces may require additional time. Please note that all our furniture is handmade to order — we do not hold pre-made stock. Timelines may shift due to material availability or workshop load. We'll keep you informed throughout. If you have a specific deadline, let us know before placing your order so we can advise on feasibility.
2. Delivery

We deliver across Cape Town and the greater Western Cape using trusted third-party furniture couriers. Delivery fees are calculated at checkout based on your location. For areas outside the Western Cape, we work with reputable furniture moving companies who consolidate loads to keep costs reasonable. We'll source a quote on your behalf and present it for your approval before dispatch. Please ensure access to your delivery point is clear — we cannot accept responsibility for items that do not fit through doorways or stairwells. Communicate any access concerns when placing your order.
4. Payment

We accept EFT (electronic funds transfer), card payments, and cash. Orders are processed on receipt of a 50% deposit. The remaining 50% balance is due before delivery or collection. No goods will be released until payment is received in full. All goods remain the property of Oak + Co. until full payment has been received. 5. Our Oak

We work primarily with American White Oak — a dense, durable hardwood prized for its subtle grain variation and warm, natural tones. We select boards that are structurally sound and visually attractive, avoiding excessive knots or uneven colouring. Our standard finished thicknesses include 22mm, 38mm, and 50mm solid oak. For custom or large-format pieces such as dining tables, we also offer 75mm, 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm thicknesses. For items like bedside tables, sideboards, and shelving, we use high-quality oak veneer over engineered panels — combining the beauty of natural oak with long-term dimensional stability. We do not use set panel widths for table tops. Instead, we hand-select the best available boards to create a uniform surface that showcases the character of the wood.
6. Treatment & Finishing

All our timber surfaces are treated with Rubio Monocoat — a professional-grade, plant-based hardwax oil that penetrates and protects the wood in a single coat. Our standard finish is a matt natural look that brings out the wood's grain and character while providing strong resistance to stains, moisture, and everyday wear. The final surface feels as close to raw sanded wood as possible — natural to the touch, fully protected underneath. Every piece leaves our workshop treated and ready to use. No additional finishing is required on your part.
7. Maintenance & Care

Avoid placing hot items, chemicals, or liquids directly on untreated wood surfaces. While our Rubio Monocoat finish provides strong protection, prolonged exposure to moisture or heat can cause damage. For daily cleaning, use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. If needed, use a mild soap solution — never abrasive cleaners, aerosol sprays, or chemical-based products, as these can penetrate the grain and cause permanent staining. Our furniture is designed and finished for indoor use only. If you're considering placing a piece in a semi-outdoor area such as a covered patio or balcony, please check with us first — direct sunlight and weather exposure can cause warping and discolouration over time.
